While highlighting with foils involves placing highlights strategically across the top of the head and around the face, we recommend balayage for clients looking for a more natural, sun-kissed hair colour.

Very often we use shades that are close to your natural colour which will lighten naturally over time, blending beautifully as they grow out. But we can also brighten up your hair with fun, creative colours too!

While the colour is still hand-painted like a traditional balayage, sections of hair are wrapped in foil to achieve greater colour saturation and a higher lift.

Can I Have Balayage On Shorter Hair?

Balayage can work on most hair lengths, but it is especially effective and well-suited to those with medium to long hair.

Balayage With Creative Colours

The most popular colour for balayage tends to be blonde for lighter base shades and red tones or golden balayage for darker hair bases.

Balayage - What To Expect

Now let's explain what will happen when you come in for your balayage appointment at Tiffany Frances Salon!

Start with a free consultation and remember to bring in some images to show us exactly what you desire. Once you turn up for your appointment your stylist will section your hair and apply the colour onto the surface of your hair using a brush. This is done free-hand so we can put the carefully in precisely the right places for best effect.

The colour will be applied generously in the mid to end lengths of your hair, as this technique transitions the colour from root to tip!

This free-hand application ensures these ‘natural highlights’ look streak-free and not purposefully placed. As you may know, foils tend to be used in highlighting but we do not use them in balayage as we want to achieve a softer effect.
